How long is the warranty from The Chesterfield Brand?

How long is the warranty from The Chesterfield Brand?

The Chesterfield Brand offers a 2-year warranty on leather bags and accessories. Zuna suitcases come with a 5-year limited warranty from the original purchase date. Both warranties cover manufacturing defects in materials and finish, such as loose seams or a broken zip, but not normal wear or damage caused by carriers. Keep your proof of purchase, as you will need it for a warranty claim.

How long is the warranty per product?

The warranty period depends on the type of product:

  • Leather bags and accessories: 2-year warranty. This applies to items such as laptop bags, backpacks and wallets. The warranty covers manufacturing and material defects, provided the product has been used and cared for normally.
  • Zuna suitcases: a 5-year limited warranty from the original purchase date. This warranty applies only to the Zuna polycarbonate suitcases.

The warranty on Zuna suitcases is a commercial warranty provided by Makorian B.V., the Netherlands. It does not affect your statutory consumer rights in the country where you bought the suitcase. You can read the full terms in the warranty terms for Zuna suitcases.

Which products are exceptions?

  • Sample Sale products are in principle not covered by the warranty.
  • Second Chance products: the standard warranty does not apply. Warranty questions are handled by the partner where you bought the product.
  • Purchases outside the EU: the statutory warranty applies within the EU. If you live outside the EU, customer service assesses warranty questions case by case.

What does the warranty cover?

The warranty covers functional defects in materials or finish that occurred during production. Examples include:

  • seams or stitching coming loose;
  • a broken zip;
  • defective locks or buckles;
  • for Zuna suitcases: a telescopic handle that no longer works properly due to a manufacturing defect.

What is not covered by the warranty?

Damage caused by use, accidents or third parties is not covered:

  • Damage from accidents or misuse. For leather products, the warranty only applies if the product has been used and cared for normally.
  • Damage caused by carriers. Report damage caused by airlines, couriers or other carriers to the carrier itself.
  • Normal wear of Zuna suitcases, such as worn wheels, damaged corners, scratches and dents.
  • Cosmetic damage that does not affect how a Zuna suitcase works.
  • Natural patina of leather. Leather changes in colour and appearance through use. This is not a defect.

How do you make a warranty claim?

  1. Find your proof of purchase. You need the original receipt or order confirmation.
  2. Take photos of the defect. Make sure the problem is clearly visible, for example the loose seam or the broken zip.
  3. Describe the problem briefly. Explain what no longer works and when you noticed it.
  4. Contact customer service. Send your proof of purchase, description and photos via The Chesterfield Brand customer service.
  5. Wait for the assessment. Customer service checks whether the defect is covered and lets you know the outcome. If approved, the product is repaired or replaced with the same or a comparable model, at our discretion.

What if you bought the product from another shop?

If you bought your bag or suitcase from another shop, contact that shop. The shop handles the warranty for you. If the shop has questions, it can contact The Chesterfield Brand.

How does the repair service work?

Which repairs can you do yourself?

Some repairs you can do yourself. The Repair & Care page with instruction videos shows, for example, how to replace a zip puller, a lock or clasp, or a rivet. For belts, it also explains how to replace a screw and how to shorten the belt.

  1. Identify the broken part. Check, for example, whether only the zip puller has come off or whether the zip itself no longer closes.
  2. Find the matching video. Check the Repair & Care page for an instruction video for that part.
  3. Request the part. Spare parts can be requested via customer service.
  4. Carry out the repair. Follow the steps in the video.
  5. Get in touch if it does not work. If the damage is more extensive or the repair does not work, customer service will look at the options with you.
